Birdsong, stunning views and fresh air

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH NATURE

Leave the hustle and bustle behind and immerse yourself in nature at Yarradene. Enjoy far-reaching views down the lawn, flanked by magnificent native forest, magical sunsets from the deck and brilliant clear starry night skies. Neighbouring Mount Riddell has a series of walking tracks, as does Yarradene, and did we mention the farm animals and wildlife? You may just find there’s so much to enjoy on the property, there’s no need to leave.

THE WILDLIFE AT YARRADENE MAKE IT A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

THE WILDLIFE AT YARRADENE MAKE IT A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

Meet our indigenous residents – early morning and on dusk, the Wallabies and Kangaroos come out to graze on the lawn, late afternoon you may catch our Wombats venturing out of the bush fringe and if you hear a honk it will be one of the Sambar Deer calling from deep in the bush!

To observe the birdlife at Yarradene is to observe an intricate eco and communication system at its best!

The gentle song of the Gang Gang Cockatoos, the whistle of the Pied Currawongs, the mournful call of the iridescent Bronzewing Pigeons, the cheeky King Parrots and the unmistakeable laugh of the Kookaburras is the authentic birdsong of the Australian bush.

The sight of the majestic Wedge Tail Eagles soaring on the thermals, looking for lunch from thousands of feet up, the families of Wood Ducks flying in formation to land on the dam provides another dimension to bird watching.

WHY NOT TRY YOUR HAND AT SOME FARM EXPERIENCES

WHY NOT TRY YOUR HAND AT SOME FARM EXPERIENCES

BEE KEEPER FOR A DAY

A hands-on, suited-up Bee-Keeping Experience with owner Shane, a registered Bee Keeper (by appointment) is available. Put on a bee suit and handle the bees, during the warmer months of the year, and learn about the extraordinary life and roles of bees, from the workers to the drones to the funeral director and the Queen herself and try their honey fresh from the honeycomb!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A WILDFLOWER FARMER

Visit our 3-acre Wildflower Farm where we grow various Leucadendrons, King Proteas, Proteas and Eucalyptus to supply local florists and flower markets. Learn about the care and maintenance, when we harvest, and gather an armful of flowers with the gardener (when in season) to take home as a gorgeous memento of your stay.

GET UP CLOSE & PERSONAL WITH THE FARM ANIMALS

Enjoy eggs for your breakfast from our little ‘peep of chickens’. You’re welcome to interact gently with them and feed them food scraps and the freeze dried worms provided. Make sure you wander down to meet the Miniature Highland Cows – Hermione, Henry, and Pikelet. Our two Miniature Donkeys Issie & Daisy love a scratch and a carrot!

IF IT’S RIPE – IT’S YOURS FOR THE PICKING!

Help yourselves to ripe fruit from any of our trees during your stay – you’ll find Peaches, Limes, Figs, Lemons, Grapefruit and Cumquats. For the chefs among you, the leaves from the vines make great Dolmades, and grab some Kaffir Lime leaves to add to your curries.
